A special thank you from Mrs. Huleis. This past year at Salem Lutheran School has been one of excellence in the quality of educational experiences for our students and one that has resulted in considerable recognition and praise for our school. As the year draws to a close I would like to take the opportunity to express my sincere thanks to the students, staff and parents here at Salem. They have all worked together to build pride in our school and its accomplishments.

Congratulations to our third grader, Bruce Park. He was the top winner in the Solheim Lutheran Home essay contest. Bruce received a certificate and prize at the recognition reception held at Solheim on Wednesday, May 12. After receiving his cash award, he came into the office and announced that he wanted to donate it to the Art Program at Salem. Thank you, Bruce, for your generosity!

Our Open House and Science Fair were a big success. Thank you to parents and staff who helped with the preparations. We collected $1,039.69 in our offering which will be donated to the Center for Grief and Loss for Children in Glendale.

Also, a special thank you goes to Mrs. Speer who put on her usual spectacular choral performance that evening.

THANK YOU: Pedersen’s Band & Orchestra in Burbank donated $16.50 to our school, which represents 5% of purchases and rental fees made by our students. For more information about their services, you can visit their website at www.pbando.com or call them at (818) 848-9665.

The Salem staff thanks the PTO and all parents and students for all the special ways in which you expressed your appreciation during Staff Appreciation Week! The staff is overwhelmed by your generosity and certainly feels appreciated.

The Summer Program will begin on Monday, June 21. Mr. Daniel Lara is returning and has planned an interesting program with many events and field trips. This program is open to non-Salem students, too! For more information and registration forms, please call the school office.

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER—SEE YOU TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
